Hailing from Cornwall, Vibert entered the electronic scene in the early ‘90s, becoming a key member of Aphex Twin’s Rephlex Records crew and releasing his first ambient album, Phat Lab Nightmare, under Rising High Records. Vibert has performed under various aliases—including Plug, Kerrier District, and Amen Andrews—and collaborated with icons like Trent Reznor, BJ Cole, and Jean Jacques Perrey. He has been invited to headline and perform at major festivals worldwide, including Sónar Barcelona, Coachella, Moogfest, and Bang Face Weekender, and is a resident DJ along with the UK electronic artist Posthuman at the globally celebrated “I Love Acid” club nights.
With nearly 40 albums, remixes for artists like Nine Inch Nails and Stereolab, and his latest full album release, Machine Funk (2023), Luke Vibert’s influence on the electronic music scene remains unparalleled.
“Relentless and particular, but never overdone [Machine Funk is] the sound of someone presiding at the altar of the 303, calling all fellow worshippers to open their ears and close their eyes.”
